Waiting On Wednesday: BROKEN THINGS by Lauren Oliver

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly meme that used to be hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Waiting On Wednesday is where I/we get to "spotlight" the books that we are most looking forward to reading soon!

Today's pick is...

BROKEN THINGS

by Lauren Oliver

Expected release date: October 2nd, 2018

Published by: Harper Collins

Genre: Young Adult Contemporary Mystery/Thriller

Format: Hardcover, eBook

SUMMARY

It's been five years since Summer Marks was brutally murdered in the woods.

Everyone thinks Mia and Brynn killed their best friend.

That driven by their obsessions with a novel called THE WAY INTO LOVELORN, the three girls had imagined themselves into the magical world where their fantasies became twisted, even deadly.

The only thing is: they didn't do it.

On the anniversary of Summer's death, a seemingly insignificant discovery resurrects the mystery and pulls Mia and Brynn back together once again. But as the lines begin to blur between past and present and fiction and reality, the girls must confront what really happened in the woods all those years ago - no matter how monstrous.

MY THOUGHTS

If you've been following me for a while, you know how much of a fan I am of Lauren Oliver's books and writing... I'll add a pic of my Lauren Oliver shelf down below for you to see the proof ;)

I see that on Goodreads BROKEN THINGS has been labeled as a Young Adult book. However, I was under the impression that this was an Adult rating because, first, this takes place five years after their friend was killed, making me feel that these girls may be in the New Adult genre?... and, since it is being released directly under Harper Collins and not from one of their Young Adult imprints...???

Key phrases that has me super excited to read this as soon as it is released (unless, by some miracle, I can get/borrow an ARC copy, please!)

- "Everyone thinks Mia and Brynn killed their best friend."

- "... the three girls imagined themselves into a magical world..."

- "The only thing is: they didn't do it."

- "... no matter how monstrous."

What do you think???

What are you anxious to get your hands on soon???

Waiting On Wednesday #149: REPLICA by Lauren Oliver (YA)

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine.

This is where we get to 'spotlight' the books that we are anxiously waiting to be released!!! The ones that we are dying to get our hands on and read into the wee hours of the night!!!

It has been TOO long since I have done a W.o.W. post! And I am SOOO excited to get back into posting and blogging regularly again!!!

Can't wait to catch up and see what you all have added to your wishlists :)

REPLICA

by Lauren Oliver

Expected release date: October 4th, 2016

Published by HarperCollins

Genre: Young Adult

Format: Hardcover, eBook, Audiobook

SUMMARY

Gemma has been in and out of hospitals since she was born. 'A sickly child', her lonely life to date has revolved around her home, school and one best friend, Alice. But when she discovers her father's connection to the top secret Haven research facility, currently hitting the headlines and under siege by religious fanatics, Gemma decides to leave the sanctuary she's always known to find the institute and determine what is going on there and why her father's name seems inextricably linked to it.

Amidst the frenzy outside the institute's walls, Lyra - or number 24 as she is known as at Haven - and a fellow experimental subject known only as 72, manage to escape. Encountering a world they never knew existed outside the walls of their secluded upbringing, they meet Gemma and, as they try to understand Haven's purpose together, they uncover some earth-shattering secrets that will change the lives of both girls forever.

Why am I SOOO looking forward to reading REPLICA???...

First, if you haven't seen, I am a HUGE Lauren Oliver fan! And I have the "Lauren Oliver" bookshelf to back me up on that, lol!

Next... have you seen the format of this book?!?!?

It's two books in one! On one side, you get to read Gemma's side of the story. And on the other side, you read Lyra's side of the story. Oliver has also said that you can read both their stories at the same time!!! Just by flipping over back and forth with each chapter!!! How amazing is that???

And lastly, just because!!!

OMG, I seriously cannot wait to read this one!!!

P.S. If anyone has a REPLICA ARC that they would like to trade, even if it's in the near future, I'd be happy to try to work something out with you! I would truly love to have a copy to add to my 'Lauren Oliver Collection' *hee hee*

Waiting On Wednesday #131: THE SHRUNKEN HEAD (The Curiosity House #1) by Lauren Oliver and H.C. Chester (MG)

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine.

This is where we get to 'spotlight' books that we are anxiously waiting to be released!!!

The ones that we are dying to get our hands on and read into the wee hours of the night!!!

And, quite possibly, to make our shelves look pretty too :)

What I'm currently waiting for...

THE SHRUNKEN HEAD

The Curiosity House #1

by Lauren Oliver and H.C. Chester

Expected release date: September 29th, 2015

Published by HarperCollins Children's Books

Genre: Middle Grade

Format: Hardcover, eBook

SUMMARY

What you will find in this book:

- A rather attractive bearded lady.

- Several scandalous murders.

- A deliciously disgusting Amazonian shrunken head.

- Four extraordinary children with equally extraordinary abilities.

- A quite loquacious talking bird.

Blessed with extraordinary abilities, orphans Philippa, Sam and Thomas have grown up happily in Dumfrey's Dime Museum of Freaks, Oddities and Wonders. But when a fourth child, Max, a knife-thrower, joins the group, it sets off an unforgettable chain of events.

When the museum's Amazonian shrunken head is stolen, the four are determined to get it back. But their search leads them to a series of murders and an explosive secret about their pasts.

What you will NOT find in this book:

- An accountant named Seymour.

- A never-ending line at the post office.

- Brussel sprouts (shudder).

- A lecture on finishing all your homework on time.

- A sweet, gooey story for nice little girls and boys.

This sensational new series combines the unparalleled storytelling gifts of Lauren Oliver with the rich knowledge of the notorious relics collector H.C. Chester.

Why I'm waiting for THE SHRUNKEN HEAD...

After reading the summary, do you really need me to tell you why I want this book?!

Did you not see that it is written by Lauren Oliver???

I don't think I have ever seen a middle grade book with so many oddities mixed together...

(My boys are quite keen on learning what it is like to grow up in a museum and what these murders are all about!)

And, did you not see that the book is from Lauren Oliver?!?!?

Yes, I see that some recluse relics genius is in on it too, but still...

SO, what are you waiting for this week???
