The Best Books That I Have Read in 2012

Merry Christmas Eve :)

I've decided to participate in the... Top 10 of 2012
You can find more info HERE to participate!!!

Hosted by...
FiktshunTwo Chicks On Books
Magical Urban Fantasy Reads
Confessions Of A Bookaholic
and A Life Bound By Books

My most favorite books for 2012 are...

1. PUSHING THE LIMITS by Katie McGarry
I've always liked contemporary, but this book made me fall in love with the whole genre!
Echo and Noah's stories where so tragic, their love just made sense...
I love books that can give you the big feels right from the start!

by Jodi Lynn Anderson
Oh my, sniff... this story ripped my heart out!
Yes, it starts out a bit slow, BUT, once things start moving along...
Tiger Lily, Tick Tock, Peter Pan, The Lost Boys...
Oh, Tick Tock! Peter!!!... such a bittersweet ending.
This is one of those books that will be re-read, over and over again...
loved it so much!

3. EMBRACE and ENTICE by Jessica Shirvington

THIS is how you do an Angel story!
It's got everything -
kick-ass heroines, love story, awesome plot, amazing writing, etc.
Can't wait for the 3rd book, Emblaze!!!

4. EVERNEATH by Brodi Ashton
OMG, JACK!!!
The ending, it nearly killed me! But it was SO good, it couldn't have ended in any other way!
I NEED to read Everbound as soon as it is released!
I need to know what happens to Jack... and if worse comes to worse,
maybe I can save him ;)

5. ENCHANTED by Alethea Kontis
As you all already know, my most favorite books are those that are fairytale retellings or re-imaginations...

And Alethea Kontis was able to take almost all of my favorite fairytales and entwine them together into one magical book!
I am so excited to read the rest of the series (6 more!!!) and see what other stories she will use to tell the tales of the other characters.

6. OBSIDIAN and ONYX by Jennifer L. Armentrout
This author has become one of my all-time favorites!
And THIS series is the main reason why!!!
I don't ever want this to end! Not only because of Daemon {giggle},
but because the whole series and story-line is just fabulous!!!
I never thought I would love aliens so very much ;)

7. ALICE IN ZOMBIELAND by Gena Showalter
I am NOT a fan of Zombies!
I am super surprised when this one instantly popped into my head for my top 10 list, lol!
The whole zombie-twist that Gena Showalter came up with really impressed me - and all the bits and references to 'Wonderland' were brilliantly done!
I am really looking forward to book 2, Through the Zombie Glass next year :)

8. SHADOW AND BONE by Leigh Bardugo
I have never had much luck with high-fantasy books...
that is, until I read Shadow and Bone!
It is by far one of the best fantasy books I have ever read!
And I am so very excited for book 2, Siege and Storm, to be released!!!

by Jess Rothenberg
 This is the first book that I read when I started book blogging;
it's also the first book signing I went to too :)
I love everything about this book -
the author, the cover, the story, the twist towards the end...
I am always recommending this one!

10. KEEP HOLDING ON by Susane Colasanti
This is a story that will always stay with me.
One that I will always recommend to people of all ages to read.
The emotions I went through while reading this one...
I can only imagine what others went through in school.
And some that still go through.
It is a definite must read!
And I adore the author and will always pick up her books without any hesitations!

Honorable Mention:
The Spindlers by Lauren Oliver
This was my first Lauren Oliver book!
Yes, I know that it is a middle grade book -
and it is definitely on my list and worth mentioning!
The world building, writing and story-line was so unique and amazing!
I will definitely be shelving this one on my 'classic shelf' and hope to see it labeled so in the future.

That's my Top 10 for 2012!!!
What are some of your favorites???

A "Nobel Beehive Award" Review: Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson

by Jodi Lynn Anderson
Release date: July 3rd, 2012
Published by: HarperCollins Children's Books
Genre: Young Adult Romance
Source read: ARC and Hardback

SUMMARY

Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair. . . .

Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn't believe in love stories or happy endings. Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell.

Peter is unlike anyone she's ever known. Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthralls her. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland's inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Soon, she is risking everything—her family, her future—to be with him. When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she's always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter.

With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed. But it's the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who's everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart.

From the New York Times bestselling author of Peaches comes a magical and bewitching story of the romance between a fearless heroine and the boy who wouldn't grow up.

THE BOOK TRAILER - Tiger Lily

MY REVIEW

There are very few books that are able to embed themselves deeply into my heart...
and I can honestly say that Tiger Lily's story is one of those.

There are no right words for me to explain to you the emotions I felt while reading this book. This story is raw and beautiful. Tiger Lily is such a strong, loyal, spirited and capable girl, in more ways than one - she can do anything from hunting, climbing and running to being able to hide her emotions and was undaunted by the villagers ridicule and criticism. She cared deeply for her adoptive father, Tik Tok. And though she continually reminded herself that she only puts up with her two so-called friends, Pine Sap and Moon Eye, she cared very much for them too.

When Tiger Lily meets Peter Pan, their worlds collide and tilt over.
Peter Pan was thought to be a myth since none of the villagers had ever seen him.
He was so much more than Tiger Lily ever imagined... The only boy out of the group that had no memories of his childhood. And his only way of protecting 'the boys' and himself was by living in denial and surviving one day at a time. Peter was mesmerizing and enthralling while at the same time impulsive, scattered and broken... and he became Tiger Lily's secret.

And yes, Tiger Lily and Peter Pan's story is told through the eyes of Tinker Bell, sort of. As a fairy, Tink is able to feel what those around her are feeling and at times, she can even feel what they are thinking. And even though she is just a tiny speck of fairy dust who is ignored throughout the majority of their journey and is incapable of communicating with anyone other than other fairies - she does play a major role to their story. It was perfect.

We also meet Captain Hook and Smee. Hook is what I would have expected. But Smee, I was taken by surprised with him. Let's just say that he is the one that people will write horrors about!

And let's not forget Wendy. At first, I wanted to be angry with Wendy. If it wasn't for her, perhaps there would have been a different ending to this story. With her "Englander" and motherly ways, of course she was different from Tiger Lily. But she gave all of the boys hope to being loved and cared for, like the ways that they remembered. The same for Peter, a dream he always dared not to have.
I understand now why the story ends the way that it does.

We've all read Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie, and we all know how that ends. No spoilers were told here.

Tiger Lily's story is bittersweet... heartbreaking.
Jodi Lynn Anderson captured Tiger Lily beautifully.
There will never be another more magical story between Peter Pan and Tiger Lily than this one.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR - Jodi Lynn Anderson

I write books about vaguely magical peach orchards, resorts in the afterlife, enigmatic island princesses beloved by Tinkerbell, and...civics! I was an awkward and strange child who kept lots of secrets. Now I live with a sweet Basenji dog named Peanut who loves to eat shoes, and a sweet husband who is good at all the things I'm bad at, like being organized and thinking things through. I've loved writing and reading about mythical and strange things since I can remember.

Waiting On Wednesday: Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly meme hosted by

This is were we get to 'spotlight' books that we're waiting to be released! The ones that we are dying to get our hands on and read into the wee hours of the night ;)

The minute I saw this title, my heart just started to pitter-patter and I couldn't breathe :)

by Jodi Lynn Anderson

"15 year old Tiger Lily, proud and fierce, wild and misunderstood, doesn't believe in love stories or happy endings. Then she meets the teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland, and immediately falls under his spell. Peter is unlike anyone she's ever known. Impetuous and brave, big-hearted but hard to reach, he both scares and enthralls her. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland's inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Soon, she is risking everything - her family, her future - to be with the haunted, hunted, courageous boy who loves her. When - as a punishment for her rebellious ways - she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she's always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter. With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed. But it's the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who's everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart."

A Peter Pan re-telling from Tiger Lily's point of view -
we finally get to see her side of the story!!!

You don't understand how much I adore Peter Pan, the Lost Boys, Neverland,
and even Tinkerbell and Wendy-bird! and let's not forget Hook and his crew ;)
I have never seen any other story, re-telling, point of view that has ever given Tiger Lily the time of day! I am trying not to set my expectations too high, just in case, but I cannot help it! This should be an amazing read... Thank you, Jodi Lynn Anderson!!!

I cannot wait to read this book!!!
