The Reading Queue: February 2014

The Reading Queue is a monthly meme hosted by
This is where we can all share what our reading plans for the month,
and give a quick lineup and/or recap of the books we read last month...
This is what I read last month...
- Leaf by Stephen Michael King (Children); SWEET picture book for all ages! See my review here!

- Disgraced by Ayad Akhtar (Adult); This was an interesting read for me, not my usual since it is a political screenplay. Definitely interesting. But definitely not something that I would pick up again.

- Sneaking Candy by Lisa Burstein (New Adult); HOT! Loved this so much! I already loved her writing style, and seeing this author break free from her serious YA contemps and dive into something so sexy and fun was fabulous! I am really looking forward to her writing more New Adult books.

- Bitter Sweet Love (The Dark Elements #0.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout (New Adult); There aren't enough words right now - I truly, truly enjoyed this one! Cannot wait to dive into this series!

- Being Sloan Jacobs by Lauren Morrill (YA); This is my first book by Lauren Morrill. It started out a bit slow/boring for me and I almost DNFed it. But I kept going, and am so happy that I did. Truly loved the story and dual point-of-views. I look forward to reading Meant To Be soon.

- City of Bones (Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare (YA); Yes, I am one of the very few who has not read this series yet. I saw the movie first (I know!) and really enjoyed it but had so many questions that I caved in and read it - and LOVED it!!! I need more Jace in my life now!!!

- Portrait of a Starter (Starters #0.5) by Lissa Price (YA)
- Starters by Lissa Price (YA)
- Portrait of a Marshal (Starters #1.25) by Lissa Price (YA)
- Portrait of a Donor (Starters #1.75) by Lissa Price (YA)
- Enders (Starters #2) by Lissa Price (YA)
I. Read. It. ALL... in one night!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this series so much! ENDERS was amazing and perfectly done! I need to find my words so I can post an overall review soon!

- Run to You Part One: First Sight by Clara Kensie (YA)
- Run to You Part Two: Second Glance by Clara Kensie (YA)
- Run to You Part Three: Third Charm by Clara Kensie (YA)
Holy crap!!! Clara Kensie has blown my mind!!! This is a new series being released by Harlequin Teen in February - every week a new part will be released! I was asked to review - and thank god that I not only said yes! but that they sent me all three parts at once! I don't know what I would have done if I had to wait a week in between parts - the mystery! the suspense! the cliffhangers all over the place! Reviews will be posted soon...

- The Secret Diamond Sisters by Michelle Madow (YA); I adore Michelle Madow, her writing is perfectly sweet and I had a lot of fun with the Diamond sisters. Review will be up in February as well!

- R is for Rebel (Unruly Royals #4) by Megan Mulry (Adult); I have been following the Unruly Royal series from the beginning - each book, character, everything gets better and better! Just when I think that Megan Mulry can't outdo herself, she does! Review to be posted in a few days...

- The Unseemly Education of Anne Merchant (The V Trilogy #1) by Joanna Wiebe (YA); This book was a total surprise! It exceeded my expectations! And the book is beautiful! A definite must read. Can't wait to share my review of this one too!

So, as you can see, I am very behind on posting my reviews!
But all the books that I read in January will be reviewed/posted in February, definitely!!!

This is my February TBR...

 - The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd (Adult)
- City of Ashes (Mortal Instruments #2) by Cassandra Clare (YA)
- Two Sisters by Mary Hogan (Adult)
- Grim by Various YA Authors (YA)
- Real Mermaids Don't Sell Seashells (#4) by Helen Boudreaux (Middle Grade)
- Curl Up and Dye by Sharon Sala (Adult)
- Anyone But You (Twisted Lit #3) by Kim Askew and Amy Helmes (YA)
- #16ThingsIThoughtWereTrue by Janet Gurtler (YA)
- Bring Me Back by Karen Booth (NA)
- Back Forever by Karen Booth (NA)
... and probably a book or two more... I always leave room for just in case ;)

  1. Oh Yay! You joined up with us! So glad to have you! I'm impressed with the number of books you read in January! Nice! So...how did you like The City of Bones? Once you've read a few more of those you need to start The Infernal Devices trilogy....I love it even more than TMI books!
Good luck with your goals for February! I have the first two books in the Real Mermaids series, but haven't had a chance to read them yet...which is embarrassing because they're such small books!

  3. I asked you once and I'll ask you again ... how do you read so much with little ones? I thought reading 11 books in the month was good, but I'd love to read more. Maybe once he sleeps more on a schedule ... his feedings only last about 10 minutes each, so not a lot of time for a book! Guess I could have an ebook on the go ...

I once won a copy of Starters, but it never came. I'm still sad since I've heard really good things about it! I can't believe you read the second book in one night. Go you! Maybe one day I'll pick up a copy. :)

Great job with the reading this month! I really want to read the Sue Monk Kidd book, too ... I loved The Secret Life of Bees and this one sounds really, really good. Hope you like it!

  5. I'm definitely interested in Grim, I hope you like it. I agree with you on both Sneaking Candy and Being Sloane Jacobs. I did read Meant To Be and didn't like it as much as Being Sloane Jacobs but it's still cute. I'm glad you're enjoying The Mortal Instruments. It was so much better than the movie. I was amazed at how fast I read them even though they're so big. Happy February reading!

  7. That’s cool the movie got you to read City of Bones. I wasn’t a fan of the movie but I really like those books too.

Great list for February! The cover for Grim is so awesome. I love how you read from a ton of different genres. I need to do that more!
