"To find out what a story's really about,' the Librarian said,

'you don't ask the writer. You ask the reader."

A borrowed eReader taught me what the Trylle is...

Over the summer, while MY sister was working and going to school A LOT and had no time to read, she let me borrow her Nook :)  I was a happy girl for a little over a month!!!

I asked here which book/series I should start with, there were so many that sounded good - Sara HIGHLY suggested that I should read...

"Ummm, what's a 'trylle'???"
(Yup, that was my response to that, lol!)

She said, "Trolls."

I said, "Ewww, those ugly little hairy things???"

{Ducking!!!}

... and I was SOOO very wrong!!!
They are not tiny, although, they are short...
they're definitely not ugly... and the hairy one is iffy - they are known to have curly/unruly hair, probably like mine, lol!
Oh, and there's this guy named Finn... he's definitely crush-worthy and of course he's the one... right??? or maybe not!!!
You will just have to read the series for yourself,
anything I say will definitely be a spoiler!!!

The series first book, Switched, is available TODAY as a paperback!!!
The whole trilogy was originally and only available as ebooks -
Hocking was a self-published ebook author who has sold millions on her own!!!
Isn't it wonderful news when one of your Indie-faves gets bigger and bigger!!!

Oh, and here is proof as to how wrong I was by 'judging a book by it's cover':

"When Wendy Everyly was six years old, her mother was convinced she was a monster and tried to kill her.
Eleven years later, Wendy discovers her mother might have been right.
She's not the person she's always believed herself to be, and her whole life begins to unravel -
all because of Finn Holmes.
Finn is a mysterious guy who always seems to be watching her. Every encounter leaves her deeply shaken... though it has more to do with her fierce attraction to him than she'd ever admit. But it isn't long before he reveals the truth:
Wendy is a changeling who was switched at birth - and he's come to take her home.
Now Wendy's about to journey to a magical world she never knew existed, one that's both beautiful and frightening. And where she must leave her old life behind to discover who she's meant to become..."

Book 2, Torn, will be released as a paperback on 2/28/2012.

AND, Book 3, Ascend, will be released as a paperback on 4/24/2012.

Yes, they are all available as ebooks too!
BUT - as a special gift, the FIRST book, Switch, contains a NEW and NEVER-before-published bonus story!!! Definitely worth the paperback bonus ;)
I think that I will definitely be re-reading these in the near future...
something to look forward to!!!

You can follow Amanda Hocking, The Trylle Trilogy and her other books HERE!!!
I am SO looking forward to reading one of her newest books,
Wake, A Watersong Novel
Release date: 8/21/2012

From BN.com:
"Gemma Fisher lives an ordinary life in the quiet seaside town of Capri, where she shares a close bond with her sister Harper and a budding attraction with her gorgeous neighbor, Alex. But everything changes when three stunningly beautiful girls arrive in Capri and seem to cast a spell on the whole town.
After a chance encounter with them, Gemma wake up alone on the beach with no memory of what happened, and a sneaking suspicion that they somehow bespelled her.
Now Gemma has a host of new powers she can't control or understand.
She's growing more beautiful every day, and she has a strange effect on men that makes them unable to resit her - especially when she sings. But she's also overwhelmed by strange cravings that feel all wrong, and she begins to suspect the girls have a dark side that goes beyond anything she ever knew existed.
The girls, she discovers, are sirens - and now she's about to enter a strange new world brimming with dark beauty... and unimaginable secrets."

I have never read any stories about mermaids before, this will definitely be my first!!!

A huuuge thanks to my sissy for recommending an awesome read!!!

  3. Totally agree! I was hooked in by this and it left me wanting to go grab the 2nd and 3rd book asap!! It's amazing the success Amanda has generated for herself after years of being a self-published author and now no doubt she'll grow even bigger with the help of a publisher. Can't wait to see what she has in store for Wendy next :D

  5. I absolutely ADORED the Trylle series. I loved it sooooo soooo much! It was probably one of my favorite series from 2012.

I know some people didn't like who Wendy ended up with, but I liked how it was a more realistic view of love. The way a character changes and grows makes them a different person, and they want different things. And Wendy definitely grew over the series. And people rarely end up with their first love. I loved Finn, Tove, and Loki for all different reasons. Sigh.

I'm definitely re-reading them when they're all out in paperback!
