Maria Faulconer's Mother's Day Event and Giveaway

I am very honored to be able to be a part of a very special event and giveaway today in support of Maria Faulconer's A MOM FOR UMANDE and mothers everywhere. This picture book is a charming true adoption story featuring a very special surrogate mother, and we would like to extend that love to the women in your lives.

Mothers come in all sorts of packages, from natural moms, to adoptive moms, to women who stepped in and raised us in the best way they knew how. No matter what form they come in, mothers are a special group of women who deserve to be honored this Mother's Day, and we couldn't be more excited to share the special tributes from all the bloggers participating in this wonderful event by not only featuring A MOM FOR UMANDE, but also celebrating the very special women who raised you with original blogger content celebrating the moms in our lives in each post.

SUMMARY

The heart-tugging true story of how a baby gorilla found love in the arms of a surrogate mom.

When Umande was born, his mother didn’t know how to take care of him. So, he was hand-reared by keepers at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs. For eight months, the keepers crawled on the ground with him to show him how to walk; coughed in his face to teach him discipline; and gave him happy gorilla grumbles to encourage him. But for Umande, something was still missing. Luckily, a thousand miles away at the Columbus Zoo, a mom was waiting just for him.

This touching true story about finding a family will resonate with animal lovers and adoptive families alike.

ABOUT MY MOM

There aren't enough words in the world to describe how amazing my mom is...
she is caring - beyond caring! Even at my old age, she still makes me call her when I get home so she knows that we got home okay - we live less than 12 minutes away, lol!

My mom is my best friend...
I can tell her anything! ANYTHING!!!
Not that I have... nope, that's a lie! My mom knows everything... except maybe one or two things... which don't even count, because, even if I don't tell her, she knows! She just does - scary thing how moms can do that, lol! But, now that I'm a mom too, I get it... it's a cool power to have ;)

My mom is my role model, I look up to her...
See, with my mom, what you see is what you get!... most of the time ;)
Sometimes she tries to spare our feelings, but, the truth is always best!
She's had her ups and downs, she's not perfect - and I am happy and honored to be able to know my mom so well. I've seen her at her happiest and her saddest... her most angry and disappointed moments too. She does not shy away from real life moments. She is a strong and determined woman and always manages to get things done. She has taught me to embrace the good, and the bad; and that no matter what it is, we can work it out together, because we are never alone.

My mom loves us: my dad, my sister and I, her grandkids, her son-in-laws and so many more... always putting others before herself. Worries more than she should...

Look at her! Isn't she the prettiest mom you've ever seen?!

I cannot imagine a world without her!
She's my mom.

I love you, mami!!! xo

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
