Waiting On Wednesday #57: TIME AFTER TIME (Time Between Us #2) by Tamara Ireland Stone

It has been a long time since I've done a 'Waiting On Wednesday' post -
I feel so out of the loop! Now that I am feeling up to it, I really need to catch up on all the good books that will be releasing in the Fall/Winter!
I am really looking forward to seeing everyone's posts today :)
Please be sure to say 'hi' and leave your links for me - thanks!!! xo

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly meme hosted by  Breaking the Spine.
This is were we get to 'spotlight' books that we are anxiously waiting to be released! The ones that we are dying to get our hands on and read into the wee hours of the night and, quite possibly, to make our shelves look all pretty too :)

What I'm waiting on...

(Time Between Us #2)
by Tamara Ireland Stone
Expected release date: October 8th, 2013
Published by: Disney-Hyperion
Genre: Young Adult - Romance, Time Travel

SUMMARY

"Calling Anna and Bennett’s romance long distance is an understatement: she’s from 1995 Chicago and he’s a time traveler from 2012 San Francisco. The two of them never should have met, but they did. They fell in love, even though they knew they shouldn't. And they found a way to stay together, against all odds.

It’s not a perfect arrangement, though, with Bennett unable to stay in the past for more than brief visits, skipping out on big chunks of his present in order to be with Anna in hers. They each are confident that they’ll find a way to make things work...until Bennett witnesses a single event he never should have seen (and certainly never expected to). Will the decisions he makes from that point on cement a future he doesn't want?"

"Told from Bennett’s point of view, Time After Time will satisfy readers looking for a fresh, exciting, and beautifully-written love story, both those who are eager to find out what’s next for Time Between Us's Anna and Bennett and those discovering their story for the first time."

Why I'm waiting on "TIME AFTER TIME"...

I absolutely fell head over heels for Bennett! And, of course, Anna and Bennett's love story!
I really want to see how Bennett manages to continue to time travel to be with Anna, and even more so since he sees something (in the future?) that can change everything!

SO, what are you waiting on this week???
xoxo

IT'S A RACE AGAINST TIME.

In Remembrance, Lizzie and Drew changed the course of fate so they could be together.

In Vengeance, Chelsea set fate back on its original, deadly path.

Now, strange things keep happening to Lizzie. Things that are omens of darkness to come. A curse has doomed her to die an early death, just as she did in her past life.
To make things worse, even if she can figure out who cast the curse, it's irreversible.
There's only one option left for her to save herself. It's crazier than anything she's heard yet, and to do it, she'll need Drew and Chelsea's help.

Because to make things right, they must go back to when it all began...

BOOK TRAILER - Timeless by Michelle Madow

MY REVIEW

Timeless holds all of my favorite parts to the story!
Michelle Madow did an outstanding job with the conclusion to the series...

*Spoiler Free!*

There is no time to spare in Timeless... the story picks up immediately after Remembrance -
Lizzie and Drew are able to soak in their blissful state for about 2 minutes before Lizzie realizes that something isn't right. Odd things keep happening to her. Dark things.
It seems that Lizzie and Drew are not destined for their happily-ever-after yet!
It doesn't take them long to realize who is behind their misfortune; and if they had the time to dwell on it  and be angry about it, they would! But time is ticking and the thing that they most feared can happen at any moment. They must find a way to reverse what is happening before it's too late!

I loved everything about Timeless!
The characters grow and mature so much: Lizzie and Drew's relationship blooms in strength and trust. Chelsea's character, no matter all the wrong's she did, I liked her even more this time around! She really comes into her own, thinks fast and really pulls through in the end - which is something rare to happen in stories.

The plot really picks up and moves along smoothly - Madow's writing and style gets better and better. I am really looking forward to seeing what she will be writing about next!

The Transcend Time Saga is truly a 'timeless' love story not to be forgotten!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR - Michelle Madow

Michelle Madow was inspired to write Remembrance after seeing Taylor Swift's "Love Story" music video while a junior at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. The song and video gave her the story idea about a high school girl reincarnated from Regency Era, England. She handed in the first chapter as a homework assignment for class, and when her teacher and fellow classmates wanted her to continue writing, she decided to go for it. By the end of the school year, her first novel was completed!

Along with the Transcend Time Saga, Michelle Madow has written two other young adult novels, both which will be developed into series'.

Michelle Madow graduated from the Park School of Baltimore in 2005, where she always took two English classes each semester. She graduated from Rollins College in 2010, cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English. At Rollins she was a memeber of the National Society of Collegiate Schollars, and a member of the International English Honor Society Sigma Tau Delta.

She received the Charles Hyde Pratt Award for Excellence in Creative Writing in 2010.

Michelle lives in Florida, where she is hard at work writing more novels for young adults.

There she meets the famous painter Degas and catches a brief, shocking glimpse of her mother.
Mira begins to suspect that her mom didn't run out on them,
but is a prisoner of the past.

Can one family on an incredible worldwide adventure stop a plot in time?"

MY REVIEW

What a surprising little time-traveling gem! I did not expect this "diary" to go the way that it did! Marissa Moss really knows her readers and how to tell a story fluently in journal form.

I was a bit surprised at the fact that Moss had chosen to dive into the 19th century Paris, France, surrounded by French artists and well into France's politics too. As much as the time-traveling was the main concern of the main character, the story focuses on intolerance and political corruption. At times, in my opinion, a bit too mature for the lower ages of the middle grade crowd.

The story begins with us getting to know Mira and her family, her mother has left them and they are dealing with why she would leave without any indication of her ever being unhappy and needing an outlet. Mira's father is so positive that her mother has left unwillingly and will be back as soon as she can. Her brother believes that she was having an affair and has gone to create a new life. Mira can't believe that her mother would ever leave such a loving and talented husband or a smart and promising son... but she thinks that if she had any reason to leave behind anything, it would be Mira.
And then they receive a postcard from Paris with a breezy message ending with "Love, Mom" - no one understands why she is there and why she sounds... happy?
Off to Paris they go!

Within a few hours of being in Paris, Mira time-travels back to 1881 and is off on her first adventure ever. While back-in-time, she meets a handsome boy who works with the famous artist, Degas. Thrown right into the middle of the artists world, Mira, who wishes to be an artist herself, observes her new world and doodles along the pages of her journal. Yes, the journals is filled with all kinds of drawings by her.
Mira also sees and finds things that she's never thought of being in the midst of.
Coming from a world that she always took advantage of and never had to think twice about, she is surprised by the intolerance of the Jewish people in France and soon discovers that there are deeper things going on within the society and government.

Readers will learn a lot about France's history and art history, while seeing a bit of a romance brew between Mira and Dega's assistant, Claude. The suspense of finding out what is going to happen, will Mira find her mother and how Mira will get back to her own time will keep you up for hours to finish this book!

Guest Post: Marissa Moss, Author of Mira's Diary

I am very happy to welcome Marissa Moss to the blog today :)

Marissa Moss is most popular known for Amelia's Notebooks, Daphne's Diary of Daily Disasters and Max Disaster books. She has been writing and illustrating children's books for a very long time now - she submitted her first picture book when she was only nine year old! It didn't get published, but it didn't discourage her either.

For today, Marissa shares with us on how she creates her characters...

"The Me I Wish I Could Be"

"There's a little bit of myself in every character I create.  Partly, that's how I get to know my characters, by drawing on my own quirks and those of people I know (one of the dangers of being friends with a writer!).  For main characters, like Amelia and Mira, these characters also become stand-ins for how I'd like to be, showing traits I wish I had.
Amelia is heavily based on me as a kid and the notebook I used to keep.  Except where I was gawky and awkward, Amelia uses her sense of humor to define herself.  She embraces the weirdness that I tried to hide.  When I get fan mail from girls saying they're just like Amelia, I think, “Where were you when I was a kid?”

Mira shares my love of history and art, my compulsive need to draw everything, but she's much braver than I am.  She thinks quickly on the spot where I usually come up with the perfect come-back the next day, not the next second.  She has the same curiosity, the same willingness to experience other cultures, other times, but where I time-travel by reading and writing, she gets to do the real thing, meeting the people I'd love to meet, having the adventures I can only experience on paper.  That's one of the magical things about writing.  You can create whole worlds and people them with characters you want to know.  And those you want to be."
