"To find out what a story's really about,' the Librarian said,

'you don't ask the writer. You ask the reader."

Book Trailer Friday #3: AFTERWORLDS by Scott Westerfeld (YA)

I have a new addiction: BOOK TRAILERS!!!
I'm an "old lady" who doesn't do much late Friday nights except read,
watch some Big Bang Theory and maybe bake a cookie or two...
until I discovered that there are a lot of book trailers out there!
And more and more are being made and released, and I cannot help myself!
I'm going to start sharing a few of my old and new favorite book trailers :)

by Scott Westerfeld
Expected release date: September 23rd, 2014
Published by: Simon Pulse
Genre: Young Adult Contemporary
Format: Hardcover, eBook

SUMMARY

Darcy Patel has put college and everything else on hold to publish her teen novel, Afterworlds.
Arriving in New York with no apartment or friends she wonders whether she's made the right decision until she falls in with a crowd of other seasoned and fledgling writers who take her under their wings…

Told in alternating chapters is Darcy's novel, a suspenseful thriller about Lizzie, a teen who slips into the 'Afterworld' to survive a terrorist attack.
But the Afterworld is a place between the living and the dead and as Lizzie drifts between our world and that of the Afterworld, she discovers that many unsolved - and terrifying - stories need to be reconciled.
And when a new threat resurfaces, Lizzie learns her special gifts may not be enough to protect those she loves and cares about most.

MY THOUGHTS

Ooo, intriguing... intense!

So, it seems that "Darcy writes the story" and "Lizzie lives the story that Darcy is writing'...
I'm getting the impression that Lizzie's world is coming into or interfering with Darcy's. Maybe even, Darcy having a hard time with differentiating what's real and not...???
SO, many questions!

I cannot read this book!
I have never read a Scott Westerfeld book, and I think this is the perfect one to start with!

What do you think???

Also, got any favorite book trailers to share :)

Book Trailer Friday #2: ZAC & MIA by A.J. Betts (YA)

I have a new addiction: BOOK TRAILERS!!!

Release date: September 2nd, 2014
Published by: HMH Books for Young Readers
Genre: Young Adult Contemporary
Format: Hardcover, eBook

SUMMARY

The Fault in Our Stars meets Eleanor and Park in this tough and tender young adult novel that's a lot about love (and a little about cancer).

Winner of the 2012 Australian Text Prize

"When I was little I believed in Jesus and Santa, spontaneous combustion, and the Loch Ness monster. Now I believe in science, statistics, and antibiotics."

So says seventeen-year-old Zac Meier during a long, grueling leukemia treatment in Perth, Australia.

A loud blast of Lady Gaga alerts him to the presence of Mia, the angry, not-at-all-stoic cancer patient in the room next door.

Once released, the two near-strangers can't forget each other, even as they desperately try to resume normal lives.

The story of their mysterious connection drives this unflinchingly tough, tender novel told in two voices.

MY THOUGHTS

I honestly don't know what to think, especially since I have recently/already read the book...
I feel like the characters voices are falling a bit flat and not really reflecting their personalities.

Other than that, the summary is spot on and I really, really loved this book to pieces!

This is right up there with the works of Rainbow Rowell's ELEANOR & PARK and E. Lockhart's writing in WE WERE LIARS... a true favorite!!!

What do you think of ZAC & MIA?!?!
My review will be posted sometime on September 13th or 14th...

Got any favorite book trailers?! Please share!!!

GHOST HOUSE book trailer

MY THOUGHTS

A ghost with secrets. A love that awakens another vengeful ghost.

The music is eerie, intriguing and suspenseful.
Alexander is handsome, and seems spiteful.
Isobel does not seem like a ghost I would want haunting me.

Overall, the trailer has me on the edge of my seat and I cannot wait to read GHOST HOUSE soon!

Let me know what you think!
Or leave a book trailer recommendation :)

Happy weekend!!! xo
