Book/Movie Trailer Friday #6: MOSQUITOLAND (YA), JURASSIC WORLD (NR) and SMICK (C)

I have a new addiction: BOOK/MOVIE TRAILERS!!!

I'm an "old lady" who doesn't do much late Friday nights except read,
catch up on some Big Bang Theory episodes or watch a few chick-flicks...
and maybe bake a cookie or two...
until I discovered that there are a lot of trailers out there, not only for movies, but more and more for books! And well, it's a new hobby of mine that I want to share with all of you!
Enjoy :)

by David Arnold
Expected release date: March 3rd, 2015
Published by: Viking Children's (Penguin)
Genre: Young Adult Contemporary
Format: Hardcover, eBook

SUMMARY

"I am a collection of oddities, a circus of neurons and electrons: my heart is the ringmaster, my soul is the trapeze artist, and the world is my audience. It sounds strange because it is, and it is, because I am strange."

After the sudden collapse of her family, Mim Malone is dragged from her home in northern Ohio to the "wastelands" of Mississippi, where she lives in a medicated milieu with her dad and new stepmom. Before the dust has a chance to settle, she learns her mother is sick back in Cleveland.

So she ditches her new life and hops aboard a northbound Greyhound bus to her real home and her real mother, meeting a quirky cast of fellow travelers along the way. But when her thousand-mile journey takes a few turns she could never see coming, Mim must confront her own demons, redefining her notions of love, loyalty, and what it means to be sane.

Told in an unforgettable, kaleidoscopic voice, "Mosquitoland" is a modern American odyssey, as hilarious as it is heartbreaking.

I have so many thoughts about this book's summary and trailer, but cannot articulate all into words.
It just sounds like an amazing book! One that will surely make an impact and leave an impression on me.

Book/Movie Trailer Friday #5: THE DARKEST PART OF THE FOREST by Holly Black (YA) / BIG EYES by Tim Burton (PG-13)

I have a new addiction: BOOK/MOVIE TRAILERS!!!

catch up on some Big Bang Theory episodes or watch a few chick-flicks...
and maybe bake a cookie or two...

by Holly Black
Release date: January 13th, 2015
Published by: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
Genre: Young Adult Contemporary with Magical Realism
Format: Hardcover, eBook

SUMMARY

Children can have a cruel, absolute sense of justice. Children can kill a monster and feel quite proud of themselves. A girl can look at her brother and believe they’re destined to be a knight and a bard who battle evil. She can believe she’s found the thing she’s been made for.

Hazel lives with her brother, Ben, in the strange town of Fairfold where humans and fae exist side by side. The faeries’ seemingly harmless magic attracts tourists, but Hazel knows how dangerous they can be, and she knows how to stop them. Or she did, once.

At the center of it all, there is a glass coffin in the woods. It rests right on the ground and in it sleeps a boy with horns on his head and ears as pointed as knives. Hazel and Ben were both in love with him as children. The boy has slept there for generations, never waking.

Until one day, he does…

As the world turns upside down, Hazel tries to remember her years pretending to be a knight. But swept up in new love, shifting loyalties, and the fresh sting of betrayal, will it be enough?

BOOK TRAILER - The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black

MY THOUGHTS

I was super lucky to have already read an ARC of this, and it was quite... different, but in a really good way! A contemporary with magical realism; the author gave these characters life through her magical prose!

My review will be posted on its release date, January 13th, 2015.

Have you read it already???
If not, what are you most excited for???

MOVIE TRAILER for BIG EYES

MY THOUGHTS

WHY am I just hearing about this movie now?!?!

Keane 1962
These tremendously wide-eye doll-like children have caught my eye ever since I can remember. As a kid and teen, I always wondered who this artist was and what the meaning behind these pictures were... as I got older and finally learned of the artists dramatic life, the majority of her pieces are still a wonder and have never fully been discussed.

I have seen a lot of artist that have been influenced by Margaret Keane's work...
there is something completely mesmerizing, and sometimes eerie, when you look at those doe-eyed dolls from this early period of time in her life.
Her current work has a more cutesy and happier tone. To be honest, I am more drawn to her earlier pieces. There is so much to be found and said with those pieces...

I adore Amy Adams, and think that this role suits her well!

I am really looking forward to watching this really soon!!!

Have you seen it??? Heard of it???

Book/Movie Trailer Friday #4: CINDERELLA by Disney Studios

I have a new addiction: BOOK/MOVIE TRAILERS!!!

I'm an "old lady" who doesn't do much late Friday nights except read,
catch up on some Big Bang Theory episodes or watch a few episodes of Gilmore Girls...
and maybe bake a cookie or two...
until I discovered that there are a lot of book trailers out there!
And more and more are being made and released, and I cannot help myself!
I'm going to start sharing a few of my old and new favorite book/movie trailers :)

However! Today is a bit different since it has been a while since I have shared a book trailer. I found Disney's new CINDERELLA movie trailer and I. Am. In. LOVE!!!

Doesn't the movie poster remind you of a few bookcovers???
The books that immediately came to my mind is the Everneath Trilogy by Brody Ashton...

If you are a true follower to my blog, you must know by now that I am all about the fairytales, no matter how the story is told!

And, I am so excited to see Helena Bonham-Carter in a role that has her wearing all white! lol
