Waiting On Wednesday #95: PRINCESS OF THORNS by Stacey Jay (YA)

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly meme hosted by  Breaking the Spine.

This is were we get to 'spotlight' books that we are anxiously waiting to be released! The ones that we are dying to get our hands on and read into the wee hours of the night and, quite possibly, to make our shelves look all pretty too :)

What I'm waiting for...

by Stacey Jay
Expected release date: December 9th, 2014
Published by: Delacorte Press (Random House)
Genre: Young Adult Fairytale/Fantasy
Format: Hardcover, eBook

Game of Thrones meets the Grimm's fairy tales in this twisted, fast-paced romantic fantasy-adventure about Sleeping Beauty's daughter, a warrior princess who must fight to reclaim her throne.

Though she looks like a mere mortal, Princess Aurora is a fairy blessed with enhanced strength, bravery, and mercy yet cursed to destroy the free will of any male who kisses her. Disguised as a boy, she enlists the help of the handsome but also cursed Prince Niklaas to fight legions of evil and free her brother from the ogre queen who stole Aurora's throne ten years ago.

Will Aurora triumph over evil and reach her brother before it's too late?
Can Aurora and Niklaas break the curses that will otherwise forever keep them from finding their one true love?

Why I'm waiting for PRINCESS OF THORNS...

Let me say these two things first...
1) I am not a Game of Thrones fan, sorry! I have never read the books nor have I watched it and I kind of don't really know what it's about, lol!
2) And I am definitely NOT a fan of this bookcover! Why do they always insist on putting a girl on all of these fantasy covers? SO much potential with this story, could have gone really creative on so many fairytale levels and this is what they do.... sigh...

BUT!!! As a fairytale-lover, I am SO in love with the premise of the story! Especially since the main character is Sleeping Beauty's daughter and her kisses are cursed! Disney has always made "the kiss" the thing that saves them all, (especially for Sleeping Beauty - the prince's kiss is what wakes her up), how funny to go against that concept!

And, I'm such a huge fan of Juliet Immortal! I just received Of Beast and Beauty and cannot wait to dive into this one too! I'm happy to see this author take on more fairytale-ish stories...

I cannot wait to get my hands on this! Ugly cover and all, lol!

SO, what are you waiting for this week???
