The Reading Queue: April 2014

The Reading Queue is a monthly meme hosted by
This is where we can all share what our reading plans for the month,
and give a quick lineup and/or recap of the books we read last month...

*What I read last month (March)...
I did not do very well with sticking to my TBR nor reading last month :(
I'm just realizing now that I truly only read 3 books... 3 children's books and 1 novella - don't really count since they aren't really long. I do count these on my goodreads since they are or will be reviewed, but technically, they're not full length books, sooo...
I'm hoping that April goes a lot better!!! I really need to catch up on my reviews!!!

- Ivy in Bloom by Vanita Oelschlager (C)
- Even Monsters by A. J. Smith (C)
I'll Never Let You Go by Marianne Richmond (C)
- Smile, Pout-Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen (C)
Liv, Forever by Amy Talkington (YA)
The Shadow Prince (Mortal Enchantment #0.5) by Stacey O'Neale (YA)
- City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments #3) by Cassandra Clare (YA)
- Twelve Steps by Veronica Bartles (YA)

*What I'm currently reading...
April is trying to read all the review books that I can month! And I am super excited for all of them!
I am currently reading a paperback, hardback and eBook - what I pick up depends on my 'reading situation' and mood. I can hold a hardback while snuggled up on the couch, but not rocking the baby to sleep, I need a paperback for that. And my kindle is great when I'm lying in bed, lol!...  I'm sure I'm not the only person that does this, right?

- Two Sisters by Mary Hogan (A) for review.
- The Mark of the Dragonfly by Jaleigh Johnson (MG) for book tour.
- Foretold (Sister's of Fate #1) by Rinda Elliot (YA) for review.

*My April TBR...

- The Ninja Librarians:The Accidental Keyhand by Jennifer Swann Downey (MG) for a book tour.
- Between Two Worlds by Katherine Kirkpatrick (YA) for a book tour.
- The Break-Up Artist by Philip Siegel (YA) for a blog tour.
- One Hundred Names by Cecelia Ahern (A) for review.
- The Chapel Wars by Lindsey Leavitt (YA) for review.
- The A-Word (Sweet Dead Life #2) by Joy Preble (YA) for review.

And if I have time...
- City of Fallen Angels (Mortal Instruments #4) by Cassandra Clare (YA)
I really, really want to keep up with this series and hopefully read ALL the books in the Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices series by the end of the year! Because I am dying to get to the Bane Chronicles - Magnus is my fave character so far!

The Fault in Our Stars (HB) by John Green (YA)
I know, I know. I keep putting this off. But Jessica of Step Into Fiction and I are really going to try to get together on this one this month!

- Don't Look Back (ARC) by Jennifer L. Armentrout (YA)
- Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira (YA)

The Reading Queue: March 2014

The Reading Queue is a monthly meme hosted by
This is where we can all share what our reading plans for the month,
and give a quick lineup and/or recap of the books we read last month...

*What I read last month...

I fell behind on reading and blogging last month due to illness and lots of family stuffs going on. I had such a long TBR I had wanted to get through, but reality had to take over, lol. I'm (hopefully) setting more realistic goals this month and get through my pile ;)

- Belly Laughs: The Naked Truth About Pregnancy and Childbirth by Jenny McCarthy (A)
I wish I had read this before/during my pregnancies! SO funny, and really honest - all the things people don't tell you or you have to learn yourself. Such a great way to be able to laugh all the icky and stressful moments away! And I have to admit, I really didn't think that she would impress me with her writing - but I loved it all. I look forward to reading more of her books soon.

- City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments #2) by Cassandra Clare (YA)
OMG! Why did I wait so long to really get into this series?!?!
I have no words!!! Jace. Clary. And I LOVE Magnus to pieces!
The storyline and plot gets thicker and better and I am loving it!!!
Can't wait to read book 3 now :)

- Stick Dog Wants a Hot Dog by Tom Watson (MG)
We love Stick Dog and his friends: Stripes, Mutt, Karen, and Poo-Poo (her name is because she's a poodle, not because of the other stuff! lol) These pups get into mischievous adventures whenever they're hungry! So much fun and laughter - my boys adore these books!

- Bring Me Back by Karen Booth (A)
- Back Forever by Karen Booth (A)
Loved these two books!!! Christopher is SO dreamy!... these definitely have a great New Adult feel to them too - characters are older, but, young at heart. I highly recommend them to anyone who likes to read New Adult and Adult... my reviews for both should be up very soon!

- The Poodle Tales Book 9: The Modeling Poo by Toni Tuso Faber (C)
An adorable rhyming book about a poodle who creates herself into a fashionable model.
A fun book, teaches kiddos to be brave and that you can be whoever you want to be, even a modeling-poo. My full review will be up soon.

Grim: A Collection of Dark and Twisted Fairy Tales edited by Christine Johnson (YA)
Dark and twisted is understatement for some of these stories, like SKIN TRADE by Myra McEntire (shivers!)... I have reviewed 3 out of the 17 stories so far, I hope to have the rest posted by the end of March! LOVING all of them! So far my favorite is BEAUTY AND THE CHAD by Sarah Rees-Brennan, hilarious!!!

*My March TBR...
- Shatter Me (eBook) by Tahereh Mafi (YA)
A few pages in already! Liking what I'm seeing so far ;)

- City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments #3) (PB) by Cassandra Clare (YA)
I am dying to know what happens next!
As bad as Valentine is, I am really intrigued by him and need more of him in my life right now!
Also - Jace! More Jace, puh-lease!!! And Magnus too...

- The Fault in Our Stars (HB) by John Green (YA)
I don't know what to say... Confession: I have not read a John Green book yet!
(Please, don't throw any books at me, I don't want them to be injured!)
I am hoping to finally get to this tear-jerker; as a read-a-long with Jessica of Step Into Fiction for support and a shoulder to cry on ;)

- Liv, Forever (ARC) by Amy Talkington (YA)
Art school! Love! Murder! Ghosts!
It's been a long time since I've read a ghost story... and a good one involving star-crossed love!
Can't wait to read this thrilling mystery!

- Queen of Hearts (eGalley) by Colleen Oakes (YA)
A princess who becomes a villain!!! Aaaah! Can't wait to read this!!!

- Love Letters to the Dead (eGalley) by Ava Dellaira (YA)
This book sounds heart wrenching! I am excited to see who she writes to and what happens to her!

- We Were Liars (eGalley) by E. Lockhart (YA)
"Lies upon lies. True love. The truth."
I have been hearing nothing but good things about this one already! My expectations are really high right now. Cannot wait to read about these characters.

- Sleep No More (eGalley) by Aprilynne Pike (YA)
A psychological thriller, an oracle.
I really enjoyed her Wings series. I am not a 'thriller' kind of reader, but I really like her writing and am curious to see what this is all about.

... and maybe, if I have time, I'll read these too...

- The Blue-Ribbon Jalapeno Society Jubilee (Cadillac, Texas #1) (ARC) by Carolyn Brown (A)
- The Red-Hot Chili Cook-Off (Cadillac, Texas #2) (ARC) by Carolyn Brown (A)
This series sounds like so much fun! Set in the south, 4 BFFs get into all kinds of mischief - I adore books that take place in the south and can't wait to get into this world and have a couple of chuckles!

- Two Sisters (ARC) by Mary Hogan (A)
The title of this book alone drew me in. As the oldest of 'two sisters' I'm curious to see how these two sisters relationship is. My sister, mom and I are extremely close, and I always have such a hard time hearing about siblings not being as close as we are. Sounds like I may need a tissue or two for this too.

The Reading Queue: February 2014

The Reading Queue is a monthly meme hosted by
This is where we can all share what our reading plans for the month,
and give a quick lineup and/or recap of the books we read last month...
This is what I read last month...
- Leaf by Stephen Michael King (Children); SWEET picture book for all ages! See my review here!

- Disgraced by Ayad Akhtar (Adult); This was an interesting read for me, not my usual since it is a political screenplay. Definitely interesting. But definitely not something that I would pick up again.

- Sneaking Candy by Lisa Burstein (New Adult); HOT! Loved this so much! I already loved her writing style, and seeing this author break free from her serious YA contemps and dive into something so sexy and fun was fabulous! I am really looking forward to her writing more New Adult books.

- Bitter Sweet Love (The Dark Elements #0.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout (New Adult); There aren't enough words right now - I truly, truly enjoyed this one! Cannot wait to dive into this series!

- Being Sloan Jacobs by Lauren Morrill (YA); This is my first book by Lauren Morrill. It started out a bit slow/boring for me and I almost DNFed it. But I kept going, and am so happy that I did. Truly loved the story and dual point-of-views. I look forward to reading Meant To Be soon.

- City of Bones (Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare (YA); Yes, I am one of the very few who has not read this series yet. I saw the movie first (I know!) and really enjoyed it but had so many questions that I caved in and read it - and LOVED it!!! I need more Jace in my life now!!!

- Portrait of a Starter (Starters #0.5) by Lissa Price (YA)
- Starters by Lissa Price (YA)
- Portrait of a Marshal (Starters #1.25) by Lissa Price (YA)
- Portrait of a Donor (Starters #1.75) by Lissa Price (YA)
- Enders (Starters #2) by Lissa Price (YA)
I. Read. It. ALL... in one night!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this series so much! ENDERS was amazing and perfectly done! I need to find my words so I can post an overall review soon!

- Run to You Part One: First Sight by Clara Kensie (YA)
- Run to You Part Two: Second Glance by Clara Kensie (YA)
- Run to You Part Three: Third Charm by Clara Kensie (YA)
Holy crap!!! Clara Kensie has blown my mind!!! This is a new series being released by Harlequin Teen in February - every week a new part will be released! I was asked to review - and thank god that I not only said yes! but that they sent me all three parts at once! I don't know what I would have done if I had to wait a week in between parts - the mystery! the suspense! the cliffhangers all over the place! Reviews will be posted soon...

- The Secret Diamond Sisters by Michelle Madow (YA); I adore Michelle Madow, her writing is perfectly sweet and I had a lot of fun with the Diamond sisters. Review will be up in February as well!

- R is for Rebel (Unruly Royals #4) by Megan Mulry (Adult); I have been following the Unruly Royal series from the beginning - each book, character, everything gets better and better! Just when I think that Megan Mulry can't outdo herself, she does! Review to be posted in a few days...

- The Unseemly Education of Anne Merchant (The V Trilogy #1) by Joanna Wiebe (YA); This book was a total surprise! It exceeded my expectations! And the book is beautiful! A definite must read. Can't wait to share my review of this one too!

So, as you can see, I am very behind on posting my reviews!
But all the books that I read in January will be reviewed/posted in February, definitely!!!

This is my February TBR...
