SUMMARY

Nadia Conrad has big dreams, and she's determined to make them come true—for her parents' sake as well as her own. But between maintaining her college scholarship and working at the local day care to support herself, she barely has time to think, let alone date. Then she moves into a new apartment and meets the taciturn yet irresistible guy in 1B….

Daniel Tyler has grown up too fast. Becoming a single dad at twenty turned his life upside down—and brought him heartache he can't risk again. Now, as he raises his four-year-old son while balancing a full-time construction management job and night classes, a social life is out of the question. The last thing he wants is for four noisy students to move into the apartment upstairs. But one night, Nadia's and Ty's paths cross, and soon they can't stay away from each other.

The timing is all wrong—but love happens when it happens. And you can't know what you truly need until you stand to lose it.

MY REVIEW

Ann Aguirre's writing is magical. She has an amazing ability to create settings and characters that keep me interested and page-turning, even when I don't want to. And again, I mean that in a positive way. I do like her writing style and was completed invested in the this love story, but I didn't connect to it like the way I was hoping to.

Nadia is doing her best to keep it all together - college, work, friends, study and more work. She barely has the time to eat, let alone, to commit to a relationship right now.
Ty is a single dad who is going to school part-time while working full-time. His world consists of taking care of his son and doing the best he can to succeed in making his dream come true, to become a successful architect. After the tumultuous relationship he had with his son's mother. A commitment of any kind is not in the cards, not now. Not ever.

And then, they meet.

Is it love at first sight? Or lust?
Can they just be friends with benefits? Or is there more?

In the end, I really enjoyed watching Nadia and Ty go through everything that they had to in order to trust each other and finally fall into their happily-ever-after. However, like in Mortal Danger, I feel like something was missing - and I think that its me. I didn't feel the true connection between Nadia and Ty, therefore, I didn't feel connected to them either. I kept craving to see and learn more about Nadia's roommates than theirs. I kept expecting to see a huge twist or some sort of cliffhanger towards the ending of the book, something to bring their relationship to a true test.
Again, Nadia and Ty's story was fun, heartwarming and sweet, but lacked the sizzle I was looking for. I do intend to read the rest of the trilogy and look forward to seeing what the other couples stories will be.

*An eARC was acquired from the publisher through NetGalley for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
