April 2017 Book Haul, Wrap-Up and May TBR!

Hello, Bookish Friends!!!

I'm very excited to get back into book-blogging, and what better way to start off than with a huge book haul :) 

These are all the books I've accumulated through April...

as you can see, I did splurge quite a bit on myself, lol! It's what I do to try to relieve myself from stress/anxiety - I go on Amazon and Book Outlet and fill my cart up to hundreds of dollars and then slowly delete the most expensive books until I get to under $20 and then I "treat myself", lol! Please tell me I'm not alone in this!

Bumbles and Fairy-Tales UPDATE...

Hello friends!!!

It's been too long!!! 

So, I thought I'd do a quick update with lots and lots of pictures :) 

Yes, I'm still reading!!!

However, I have become a very sloooooow reader, lol! It's a combination of SO many distractions and exhaustion. But, I'm okay with it! I've made my peace! I'm a mom first; and I have other hobbies that I am pursuing right now too. And I am all for multi-tasking, even if it does take longer to get it all done, lol! I'm just having so much fun with it all, I don't want to settle on just one thing - I've done this in the past and it doesn't work for me. I love to read, I love my books! But I also love to be creative, in many ways... 

My bookshelves have been cleaned and updated!!! 

However, this may be the last time you seen these shelves, sigh...

We are moving this summer, and since these shelves are built-in, they can't come with me to our new home *sobs*

What's distracting me from reading...

My sister and I took a trip to a (not so) local Barnes and Noble...

We were very disappointed; not only by the bad service that we received from the manager.

But also - the condition of the store was SO bad! It was SO hot and SO humid that almost all of the books had some sort of damage to them! Especially the paperbacks - as you can see, most of their covers were curling over, I've never seen book spines and pages so wrinkled! Made me so upset to see how poorly all of these books were - and mad that they were expecting people to pay full price for them. I wonder what will happen to these damaged books :(

MY REVIEW

A beautifully illustrated book for those who are interested in expanding the artistic techniques with pencils.

I am a person who needs a lot of visuals in order to learn something new, and the author delivers with many high quality pictures on many techniques, step-by-step how-to's and finished worked.
Every material is thoroughly discussed with many details, and many tips on how to use these materials are shared.

This book is not intended for beginners, you must have some basic knowledge in using some pencil mediums and know some beginner techniques and lingo. However, it is helpful to have once you are comfortable into experimenting with the new and stepping up into the next level.

What I enjoyed most about the book is that the author uses all of her own drawings to explain her steps, tips and techniques. It is clear that she is very passionate in sharing what she has learned and loves to work with. I admire her work and will definitely be following her creativeness via social media and in her future writings.

I received a paperback from the publisher for an honest review. My thoughts are all my own.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR - Kristy Ann Kutch

Kristy Ann Kutch is a notable expert in colored pencil and a popular go-to reference for guidance and inspiration. She is the author of the popular Drawing and Painting with Colored Pencil and is a contributor to several colored pencil publications, including The Best of Colored Pencil, 1, 3, and 5;

Like always, it has been a crazy 2 weeks... 
I currently have an almost 5 month old baby on my lap who is trying to grab my fingers away from the keyboard so he can stick them in his slobbery mouth! Ew, I know! lol

Hello bookish friends!!!
I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful sunny weekend!
Today is a whopping 45 degrees, it feels like spring!!!
Going to get some cleaning done, get to church and then snuggle in with books!
(We're not very outdoorsy, lol!)

This past week, the Scholastic book fair was happening at my boys' school - 
had so much fun volunteering and helping the littles find their books!
And of course, we had to get a few books ourselves!
