Waiting On Wednesday #50: The BIG List Edition

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly meme hosted by  Breaking the Spine.
This is were we get to 'spotlight' books that we are anxiously waiting to be released! The ones that we are dying to get our hands on and read into the wee hours of the night and, quite possibly, to make our shelves look all pretty too :)

I know that some of these titles were released yesterday, but since I still don't have them,
I'm kinda still "waiting on" for them, right?! lol
Also, this is my 50th "Waiting On Wednesday" post and I really wanted to do it BIG!
So, here's a list of 5 that I'm really waiting on!
Hope you find a few to add to your TBR/wishlist too ;)

Despite the forces pulling them apart, Nadia and Mateo must work together to break the chains of his family’s terrible curse, and to prevent a disaster that threatens the lives of everyone around them.

Why I'm waiting on SPELLCASTER...

WITCHES.

It has been sooo long since I have read a good book about witches.
(I don't even want to talk about the last two books that I tried to read and was so very disappointed.)
I am SO looking forward to this one!!!

SUMMARY

Fifteen-year-old Nina Perez is faced with a future she never expected. She must leave her Garden of Eden, her lush home in the Dominican Republic, when she's sent by her mother to seek out a better life with her brother in New York.

As Nina searches for some glimpse of familiarity amid the jarring world of Washington Heights, she must uncover her own strength. She learns to uncover roots within foreign soil and finds a way to grow, just like the orchids that blossom on her fire escape. And when she is confronted by ugly secrets about her brother's business, she comes to understand the realities of life in this new place.

But then she meets him - that green-eyed boy - who she can't erase from her thoughts, the one who just might help her learn to see beauty in spite of tragedy.

Why I'm waiting on FLOWERS IN THE SKY...

This seems to be my go-to genre lately, coming-of-age contemporaries.
The cover is gorgeous - I really want to know if the title has any real meaning to this story.
And of course, I am always attracted to stories that take place in NY.

I am really looking forward to getting to know Nina and this green-eyed boy!

SUMMARY

It’s 1989, the Berlin Wall is coming down, and Kate has just graduated from Yale, eager to pursue her dreams as a fledgling painter. When she receives a job offer to work as the assistant to Lydia Schell, a famous American photographer in Paris, she immediately accepts. It’s a chance not only to be at the center of it all, but also to return to France for the first time since she was a lonely nine-year-old girl, sent to the outskirts of Paris to live with cousins while her father was dying. Kate may speak fluent French, but she arrives at the Schell household in the fashionable Sixth Arrondissement both dazzled and wildly impressionable. She finds herself surrounded by a seductive cast of characters, including the bright, pretentious Schells, with whom she boards, and their assortment of famous friends; Kate’s own flamboyant cousin; a fellow Yalie who seems to have it all figured out; and a bande of independently wealthy young men with royal lineage. As Kate rediscovers Paris and her roots there, while trying to fit into Lydia’s glamorous and complicated family, she begins to question the kindness of the people to whom she is so drawn as well as her own motives for wanting them to love her.

Why I'm waiting on LESSONS IN FRENCH...

Paris.

I was in high school in 1989, I remember the Berlin Wall coming down...
I really love when author's take pieces of history and intertwine it with their stories - makes it so much more believable and relatable.

LOVE THE COVER!!!
Black/White + touch of color + film strip = stunning!!!

SUMMARY

The Bluebeard fairy tale retold. . . .

When seventeen-year-old Sophia Petheram’s beloved father dies, she receives an unexpected letter. An invitation — on fine ivory paper, in bold black handwriting — from the mysterious Monsieur Bernard de Cressac, her godfather. With no money and fewer options, Sophie accepts, leaving her humble childhood home for the astonishingly lavish Wyndriven Abbey, in the heart of Mississippi.

Sophie has always longed for a comfortable life, and she finds herself both attracted to and shocked by the charm and easy manners of her overgenerous guardian. But as she begins to piece together the mystery of his past, it’s as if, thread by thread, a silken net is tightening around her. And as she gathers stories and catches whispers of his former wives — all with hair as red as her own — in the forgotten corners of the abbey, Sophie knows she’s trapped in the passion and danger of de Cressac’s intoxicating world.

Why I'm waiting on STRANDS OF BRONZE AND GOLD...

It's a retelling of BLUEBEARD!!!

Do you remember the story??? It's not a very sweet fairy-tale.
I am really looking forward to Jane Nickerson's version!

SUMMARY

THERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU CAN'T LEAVE BEHIND ...

A broken-down camper hidden deep in a national forest is the only home fifteen-year-old Carey can remember. The trees keep guard over her threadbare existence, with the one bright spot being Carey's younger sister, Jenessa, who depends on Carey for her very survival. All they have is each other, as their mentally ill mother comes and goes with greater frequency. Until that one fateful day their mother disappears for good, and the girls are found by their father, a stranger, and taken to re-enter the "normal" life of school, clothes and boys.

Now, Carey must come to terms with the truth of why their mother spirited them away ten years ago, while haunted by a past that won't let her go ... a dark past that hides many a secret, including the reason Jenessa hasn't spoken a word in over a year. Carey knows she must keep her sister close, and her secrets even closer, or risk watching her new life come crashing down.

Why I'm waiting on IF YOU FIND ME...

Heartache.
I have a feeling this read is going to require a few tissues... or more.

To live so secluded, and then be thrust into a world with strangers, technology and school!
Shocking and confusing, I would think.

And why did her little sister stop talking? Does she open up again?

So many question! A definite must read!
