Partials Read-a-Long Challenge and Giveaway!

Welcome to the Partials Read-a-long Challenge
and Giveaway!

First, I have to apologize for not posting last week.
I needed to step back for the last week or so and regroup, and because of this, I am behind in posting and such... so without further ado! Here is this week's discussion :)

There is still over a week left of the read-a-long and we will have our "closing arguments" next week!
For this week, we have a challenge for you!

In the world of YA there seems to be an abundance of females,
but Dan Wells is among the few males present in this genre.

"Which other male authors would you highly recommend???"

Please leave your recommendations below in the comments
and you will be entered to win an eBook of The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa!
*Remember, you must be participating in the read-a-long in order to qualify for the prize.

Thank you so much! and good luck :)

Partials Read-a-long Week 2 Discussion!

Welcome to week 2 to the Partials Read-a-long!!!

How is your reading coming along???

I have to admit, I am having a tough time with this one - not because I am not liking it, but because of the setting of this book. This is the second book that I am reading that takes place on Long Island, and it all feels so realistic to me that I have to keep stopping to remind myself that what is happening in the book has not really happened in real life, lol!

Here is a quick reminder of our reading schedule
Week 1 - Part 1, read pages 1 - 134
Week 2 - Part 2, read pages 135 - 239
Week 3 - (still Part 2 ) read pages 240 - 349
Week 4 - Part 3 read pages 350 - 472 (Finish!)
(You can find more details and join in with us right HERE!)

Hoping that we're all caught up and perhaps around pages 150-200,
here are my questions to you...

- What do you think of the Senate and the Defense Grid?

- Do you think that they are too controlling? Should they be forcing people to re-populate?

- And what is your feel so far, would you prefer to live in East Meadow too? Or would you want to go live on a farm, outside of East Meadow?

Let's chat!!!

Thank you, and enjoy reading more!!!

Partials by Dan Wells, come READ-A-LONG with US!!!

Hi everyone!
Come join Cass of Books With Cass and myself on our very first...
READ-A-LONG!!!

The read-a-long starts July 30th!
We will have weekly Sunday discussions - we will chat up to a certain chapter in the book, and provide no spoilers to the end until the end of the read-a-long!
There will be a giveaway, too!!!
We will be giving away the book to our next read-a-long...
The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

So, why Partials by Dan Wells?!
So many of us have it and haven't read it yet, or want to read it, but keep putting it off!
And quite possibly there are a few of you who would love to re-read it with us, too!
So why not encourage each other to finally jump into it :)
I've been wanting to read it ever since I received my copy - it takes place on Long Island!!! That's where I live! and I cannot wait to see what kind of role the 'island' will have in the story.

Here's a little bit more about Partials...
"Humanity is all but extinguished after a war with partials—engineered organic beings identical to humans—has decimated the world’s population. Reduced to only tens of thousands by a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island. The threat of the partials is still imminent, but, worse, no baby has been born immune to the disease in over a decade. Humanity’s time is running out.

When sixteen-year-old Kira learns of her best friend’s pregnancy, she’s determined to find a solution. Then one rash decision forces Kira to flee her community with the unlikeliest of allies. As she tries desperately to save what is left of her race, she discovers that the survival of both humans and partials rests in her attempts to answer questions of the war’s origin that she never knew to ask.

Combining the fast-paced action of The Hunger Games with the provocative themes of Battlestar GalacticaPartials is a pulse-pounding journey into a world where the very concept of what it means to be human is in question—one where our sense of humanity is both our greatest liability, and our only hope for survival."

In My Mailbox #10

"In My Mailbox" is a weekly meme created by

The idea is to post whatever 'books' you may have received from the week (before), whether you purchased them, gifted to you, borrowed, traded, etc.

I wasn't planning on buying any books this week, none at all, lol!
but I saw this one on sale at our local discount book store and have seen good reviews for it! So of course I just had to get it!

Someone Else's Life by Katie Dale

My kiddo's school had another book fair this week -
at the bottom of this post you can see their haul from the book fair (they've been upset with me for not sharing their awesome finds too, lol!) and from the discount book store too... anyways, I treated myself to these 2 books from their school book fair! Gotta support, right :)

Radiance and Shimmer from the Riley Bloom Series
by Alyson Noel

And, Ivy from Ivy reads shared these ARCs with me,
thank you so very much, Ivy :)

Partials by Dan Wells (I. Cannot. Wait. To. Read. This!)
Amplified by Tara Kelly
Across the Universe by Beth Revis (Another must read now!!!)
and
Pink Smog: Becoming Weetzie Bat by Francesca Lia Block

Quick Question!!!
Has anyone read the Weetzie Bat series???
Do you suggest that I read the first book or two of the series before I read this???
There are such mix reviews about it, I have never heard about the series until now and it sounds like a good one, but I want to do it right - where should I start, please ;)

Thank you SO very much for stopping by and checking out my haul this week!
