Waiting On Wednesday #25: The Misadventures of Edgar & Allan Poe: The Tell-Tale Start by Gordon McAlpine

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly meme hosted by  Breaking the Spine.
This is were we get to 'spotlight' books that we are anxiously waiting to be released! The ones that we are dying to get our hands on and read into the wee hours of the night and, quite possibly, to make our shelves look all pretty too :)

What I'm waiting on...

by Gordon Alpine
Expected publication date: January 10th, 2013
Genre: Middle Grade and Young-YA

SUMMARY

Meet Edgar and Allan Poe -
twelve-year-old identical twins, the great-great-great-great-grandnephews of Edgar Allan Poe. They look and act so much alike that they're almost one mischievous, prank-playing boy in two bodies. When their beloved black cat, Roderick Usher, is kidnapped and transported to the Midwest, Edgar and Allan convince their guardians that it's time for a road trip. Along the way, mayhem and mystery ensue, as well as deeper questions: What is the boys' telepathic connection? Is Edgar Allan Poe himself reaching out to them from the Great Beyond? And why has a mad scientist been spying on the Poe family for years?

With a mix of literary humor, mystery, a little quantum physics, and fun extras like fortune cookie messages, letters in code, license plate clues - and playful illustrations thoughout - this series opener is a perfect choice for smart, funny tweens who love the Time Warp Trio, Roald Dahl, and Lemony Snicket.

Why I'm waiting on The Tell-Tale Start...

Out of all the literary works that I was forced to read while in school, Edgar Allan Poe is one of the very, very few that made a huge impression on me - not only did his writing stay with me throughout all these years, they were the first stories that I have ever that effected my dreams - like I said, huge impression!
It has been many years since I've read any of Poe's works, or anything inspired/influenced by him... so as soon as I saw this featured on one of Bunny Cates book hauls for review AND the mention that this series is similar to Roald Dahl and Lemony Snicket's books -  I instantly knew that not only is this a book that I am going to enjoy, but my kiddos too!

Also, I am really intrigued with the fun extras that the summary talks about -
Quantum physics? Cookie messages?
Sounds like a lot of fun :)

So, what are you waiting on this week?!?!
